A growing trend of independent fashion designers are growing their companies from here in St. Louis, along with the local industry leaders, and new manufacturing start-ups are part of what makes the current fashion and apparel industry in St. Louis a $3.3 billion business annually - a figure Sherman has a plan to double in the next 10 years.

Evolution St. Louis, 2Lu and the St. Louis Blues recently partnered to design and create 100% local items for the Blues holiday line. Their effort gives St. Louisans and opportunity to support both the local economy and fashion scene while showing their love of St. Louis’ favorite hockey team.

Today, August 18, 2020, is the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment which finally secured the vote for women in the United States. In honor of the anniversary of the 19th amendment, I want to talk about some fantastic women-owned businesses and amazing women from St. Louis’ history who have largely been forgotten.
